Atmospheric Landscapes in Watercolour - with artist Catherine Beale - Monday 5th August 2024

£89.00
sold out

In this watercolour workshop you will paint a golden meadow in celebration of long summer days using a photograph of low afternoon sunlight. Catherine will demonstrate step-by-step how to guard the white of the sun from paint to achieve the appearance of ‘glow’ from just the paper. How to loosen up your painting style with running washes for soft forms. How to use neat paint from the tube for saturated colours. The workshop will end with the final details of eclipsed meadow grasses and insects before reviewing our work for take-home trouble-shooting tips.

We will work on watercolour board which will provide a lovely solid surface for all that water!

For reference you can work from your own photo of a brightly lit field or garden border (with a little sky above) that you already know or use a reference image from the classroom.

All abilities are welcome.
